Japan Sends Chinese Fishing Boat Captain's Collision Case to Prosecutors
Japan has sent the case of a captain of a Chinese fishing boat accused of colliding with a Japanese Coast Guard vessel in disputed waters to prosecutors, the government’s top spokesman said.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshito Sengoku spoke today in Tokyo.
The Coast Guard arrested the captain after the Sept. 7 collision, prompting a formal complaint from China demanding his release. The incident took place in the East China Sea near islands known as Diaoyu in Chinese and Senkaku in Japanese.
