Japan Buys Smallest Wheat Volume in Three Weeks in Tender, Ministry Says
Japan bought 129,482 metric tons of milling wheat from the U.S., Canada and Australia in a regular tender today, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries said.
It was the smallest purchase since Aug. 19, when the government bought 128,964 tons. Shipment is set from Nov. 1 to Nov. 30, according to Ryou Okajima at the ministry’s grain trade division.
The ministry, which controls overseas purchases and domestic sales of wheat to stabilize supply, is Asia’s largest buyer as a single entity.
