New York Islamic Site's Owner Says No Deal Has Been Reached to Move Center
The owner of the site of a proposed Islamic community center near the location of the Sept. 11 attacks in New York City said there is no agreement to build the project elsewhere.
“It’s untrue that it’s being moved. The project will proceed as planned,” Sharif El-Gamal, owner of the property and CEO of Soho Properties LLC, said in a telephone interview. “What’s being reported in the media is a falsehood.”
