Angola's Catoca Diamond Mine Posted $70 Million Profit in 2009, Angop Says

ZAO Alrosa’s Catoca mine in Angola posted a profit of $70 million last year, Angop reported, citing a company statement.

The mine, located near the town of Saurimo in northeast Angola, sold 7 million carats of gems with a gross production value of $122.6 million, the Luanda-based news agency said.

Alrosa’s partners in the mine include Endiama, Angola’s state-owned diamond company, Brazil’s Odebrecht SA and Israel’s Daumonty Finance Co., the state-run news agency said.
