The euro weakened against the dollar and the yen after FT Deutschland reported European Central Bank chief economist Juergen Stark as saying that German banks need more capital.
The euro declined to $1.2694 as of 1:43 p.m. in Tokyo from $1.2720 yesterday in New York. The 16-nation currency dropped to 106.33 yen from 106.69 yen.
