Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said that the opposition will accuse his government of fraud after his followers win a majority in National Assembly elections on Sept. 26.
Chavez, speaking today on state television, said that the opposition may try to spark violence after the vote and that the government will “neutralize” any attempts at creating disorder to continue building what he calls 21st century socialism.
The opposition boycotted congressional elections in 2005, handing Chavez an absolute majority in the legislature and allowing him to rule by decree and reform constitutional term limits.
