WNBA's Liberty Moves to Prudential Center in Newark During MSG Renovation

The New York Liberty of the Women’s National Basketball Association will play the next three seasons at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, as Madison Square Garden is renovated, the team said in a news release.

The Liberty will enter its 15th season next summer. Madison Square Garden is undergoing a $775 million-$850 million renovation that will force its closure the next three summers. The NBA’s Knicks and National Hockey League’s Rangers will continue to play at Madison Square Garden during the renovation.

The Prudential Center, which is about a 15-minute train ride from Madison Square Garden, is the home of the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, and the temporary home of the NBA’s New Jersey Nets, who are planning a move to Brooklyn for the 2012-2013 season.
