Hughes Anthony Plans to Retire From Canada Bankers Association Next Year
Hughes Anthony, 61, will step down once a successor is in place, the Toronto-based organization said today in a statement.
She joined the bankers group, which represents 51 domestic lenders, in 2007 after a stint as president and CEO of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
Canadian banks were ranked the world’s soundest for the past two years by the World Economic Forum. Lenders including Royal Bank of Canada and Toronto-Dominion Bank made it through the financial crisis without government bailouts, posting a fraction of the $1.3 trillion in writedowns recorded by banks and brokers worldwide.
