Peru to Double Wages of Police, Armed Forces Over Five Years, Expreso Says

Peruvian President Alan Garcia said the government will double the wages of its armed forces and police over five years, Expreso reported.

The salary increase for 144,000 military personnel and policemen will cost 3.6 billion soles ($1.29 billion), Garcia said in an interview with the Lima-based newspaper.
