Ecuador's Correa Says Government to Halt Amazon Oil Project, Kyodo Reports

Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa said the nation will halt a Yasuni National Park oil development project in the Amazon river region, Kyodo News reported.

Correa is instead seeking to form a fund with help from the United Nations to protect the environment and improve the lifestyles of indigenous peoples, the Japanese-language news agency said, citing an interview with Correa in Tokyo.
