Carter, Wen Express `Optimism' on U.S., China Bilateral Ties, Xinhua Says
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and former U.S. President Jimmy Carter expressed “optimism” about their countries’ bilateral ties despite “ups and downs” in the relationship, Xinhua News Agency reported.
Wen, who met Carter in Beijing today, said it’s crucial for the U.S. and China to develop “positive, cooperative and all- round” ties, an arduous, long-term effort, the news agency said. Carter said he had confidence in the U.S.-China relationship, Xinhua reported.
