Tiger Woods Trails Leader Jason Day by Seven Shots at Deutsche Bank Golf
Tiger Woods trails leader Jason Day by seven shots during the third round of the U.S. PGA Tour’s Deutsche Bank Championship.
Woods shot 2-under-par 69 today at the TPC Boston in Norton, Massachusetts, to reach 7-under for the tournament. The world’s top-ranked golfer got the last of his four birdies with a tap-in at the par-5 18th.
“I didn’t make any putts today,” Woods told NBC in a televised interview. “I got off to a kind of poor start. I didn’t really hit the ball well, but I found it.”
Day holds a two-shot lead over Brandt Snedeker at 15-under par almost halfway through their rounds.
Woods began the tournament at No. 65 in the FedEx Cup standings and must be among the top 70 to advance to next week’s BMW Championship. The top 30 players then move on to the season- ending Tour Championship in Atlanta from Sept. 23-26.
The FedEx Cup winner receives a $10 million bonus. Woods has won the title two of the past three years.
