Osborne Considers Diluting U.K. Bank Bonus Disclosure Rules, Times Reports
Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne is reviewing plans that would force Britain’s banks to publish bonuses of its biggest earners, the Sunday Times reported, citing Treasury officials it didn’t name.
Osborne may also scrap plans for pay bands to be disclosed, according to the London-based newspaper. The changes come after lobbying from banks, the newspaper said.
Britain will raise more than 2 billion pounds ($3.1 billion) a year through a levy on bank balance sheets designed to discourage risky practices, Osborne said in June.
