Tottenham's Dawson to Miss 6-8 Weeks With Sprained Knee, Ankle Ligaments

Tottenham defender Michael Dawson is expected to miss six to eight weeks after spraining knee and ankle ligaments in England’s 4-0 win over Bulgaria in a qualifying match for the 2012 European Championship.

Dawson was carried off the field on a stretcher last night at Wembley Stadium and a scan this morning revealed he sprained the medial ligament in his knee and one of his ankle ligaments, the Premier League club said on its website.

Dawson, 26, was released from the England squad earlier today and won’t be replaced for the next qualifying match in Switzerland in three days, the Football Association said.
