Car Bomb Injures Dagestan Regional-Government Minister, Kills His Driver
A car-bomb explosion in Dagestan, southern Russia, injured a regional-government minister and killed his driver, the Prosecutor General’s Office said.
Bekmurza Bekmurzayev, the minister for national policy, religious and external affairs, and two people accompanying him were taken to a hospital after the blast, the office’s Investigative Committee said on its website today.
An explosive device placed under Bekmurzayev’s official car was set off at about 9 a.m. local time today when the car was being driven away from the minister’s house in the regional capital, Makhachkala, the committee said. A criminal case has been opened, it said.
