Taiwan to Study Proposals for More Financial Industry Investments in China
Taiwan’s financial regulator said it is studying suggestions by securities companies, trust and futures brokerages to be allowed to invest more in China, the Financial Supervisory Commission said in a statement on its web site today.
The regulator met with heads from 20 financial institutions as well as representatives from the stock and futures exchanges today to discuss the development of the industry as cross-strait ties improved, the statement said.
Taiwan and China in June signed a historic Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement to reduce tariffs and allow wider access to each other’s markets.
