Earthquake Measuring 7.4 Rocks South Island of New Zealand, USGS Reports

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.4 struck about four miles southeast of Christchurch on the South Island of New Zealand this morning, the U.S. Geological Survey said on its website.
