Chinese Stocks in the U.S.: Baidu, China Mobile and PetroChina
The Bank of New York Mellon China ADR Index, which tracks American depositary receipts, rose 0.6 percent to 390.99. The American Stock Exchange China Index increased 0.7 percent to 210. The Shanghai Composite Index was little changed at 2,655.39.
The following companies were among the most active Chinese shares in New York trading today. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are as of 4 p.m. New York time.
Baidu Inc. (BIDU US), operator of China’s largest Internet search engine, rose 2.1 percent to $84.30. Samsung Securities Co. raised its Baidu earnings estimates for 2010 and 2011, Paul Wuh, an analyst at Samsung Securities in Hong Kong, wrote in a report today.
China Mobile Ltd. (CHL US), the world’s biggest phone carrier by market value, rose the most in a week, after increasing 1.3 percent to $52.33. The Economic Daily News reported the company may be cooperating with MediaTek Inc. and ZTE Corp. on television phones.
PetroChina Co. (PTR US), the largest oil company in China, decreased 1.9 percent to $109.54. Oil fell 0.6 percent to $74.60.
