“The Comedy of Errors” at Shakespeare’s Globe is a tale of mistaken identity spiced with slapstick and an overload of gags.

This touring production is a fine way to get acquainted with the Globe, where the audience is just a few feet from the actors. You can eat, drink and be merry while learning a lesson you never believed at school: Shakespeare can be fun. Tomorrow’s performance begins at 7:30 p.m. Information: http://www.shakespeares-globe.org.

Saturday

Fans of Manolo Blahnik, take heed: Sadler’s Wells has just the show for you.

“Shoes” involves a dozen dancers modeling branded footwear. More than 250 pairs -- with labels ranging from Nike to Ferragamo -- hog the spotlight as their wearers make moves choreographed by the likes of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Aletta Collins (“Jesus Christ Superstar”).

The song-and-dance revue also features four singers and a band. There’s a Saturday matinee performance; the show ends on Sept. 11. Information: http://www.sadlerswells.com or +44-844-412-4300.

Saturday Night

This might be the last chance to catch Yolanda Be Cool at a tiny venue when the Australian electropop duo plays Cable Street Studios on Saturday.

The band -- named after a line from Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction” -- is being catapulted to stadium status after the success of its single “We Speak No Americano.” The track has proved irritating and catchy enough to be a No. 1 across the world.

Cable Street Studios, 566 Cable Street, E1W 3HB.

Sunday

Sometime in 2012, the empty sculpture stand on Trafalgar Square may well host a musical cash machine, a blue rooster or a bejeweled horseman.

They are three of the six nominees in the Fourth Plinth sculpture contest. The singing ATM (by Allora & Calzadilla) is a cashpoint embedded at the plinth’s base that, each time you take out money, activates the pipe organ above.

The cockerel (“Hahn/Cock” by Katharina Fritsch) is, among other things, an emblem of male-dominated Britain. The rider (“Sikandar” by Hew Locke) is a colonial-era businessman whose effigy is festooned with exotic masks and amulets.

All six maquettes are on show at the foyer of nearby St. Martin-in-the-Fields through Oct. 31. Pick your favorite there or by going online to http://fourthplinth.co.uk.

Restaurant Picks

If you’re looking for love, La Poule au Pot may be the place to be. This Pimlico restaurant was named Best for Romance yesterday -- as it is each year -- in “Harden’s London Restaurants.” Second was Clos Maggiore, while Andrew Edmunds came third. If you want an alternative, Launceston Place was one of Princess Diana’s favorite restaurants, and chef Tristan Welch’s food is as pretty as it is delicious.
