Chile to Use Oil Drill as Third Option to Rescue Miners, Segunda Reports
Chile will use a drill owned by state oil company Empresa Nacional del Petroleo as a third option to rescue 33 miners trapped in an underground mine, La Segunda reported.
Enap’s oil drilling machine will operate alongside the Strata 950, which has bored to a depth of 41 meters (135 feet), and the T-130, which is being installed, the Santiago-based newspaper reported in its online edition, citing government officials that it didn’t identify.
The government maintained a timeframe of three to four months to rescue the workers who are trapped about 700 meters below the surface in the Atacama Desert, La Segunda reported.
