Hurricane Watches Now Extend Northward to Delaware, U.S. Forecasters Say

Hurricane watches were extended from North Carolina to Cape Henlopen, Delaware, as Hurricane Earl continued toward the East Coast with 125-mph winds, U.S. forecasters said. Warnings are up from Bogue Inlet, North Carolina, to the Virginia line.

Tropical Depression Nine formed in the Atlantic behind Earl and Tropical Storm Fiona, which may reach hurricane status before rapidly weakening in the next few days, the National Hurricane Center said in advisories at 11 a.m. Miami time.
