Guangzhou Bans Smoking at Indoor Public Places, Imposes Fines, Xinhua Says
Guangzhou in southern China banned smoking in most enclosed public places, including offices, halls, conference rooms and elevators, starting yesterday, Xinhua News Agency reported.
Violators will be fined 50 yuan and businesses not complying with the law as musch as 30,000 yuan, Xinhua reported. Places of business larger than 150 square meters or having more than 75 seats can designate a smoking area, the news agency said.
