Apple Unveils $99 TV Set-Top Box With Netflix, Show Rentals

Sept. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Apple Inc. introduced a new version of its Apple TV set-top box and updated versions of its market-leading iPod media players and iTunes software, including more social-networking features that let users see what their friends are downloading. Apple Inc. introduced a new version of its Apple TV set-top box that features programming from Netflix Inc. and Google Inc.’s YouTube, as well as a rental service that includes shows from Walt Disney Co.’s ABC.

The second-generation Apple TV will cost $99 and feature 99- cent rentals of programs from News Corp.’s Fox, Apple Chief Executive Officer Steve Jobs said at an event today in San Francisco.
