Thomson Airways Ltd. may scrap premium economy seats on its aircraft because of an increase in U.K. air passenger taxes scheduled for Nov. 1, the Financial Times reported, citing Managing Director Chris Browne.
The duty will rise to as much as 170 pounds ($263) per ticket, unless it’s replaced by a per-aircraft tax, which the government is still considering, the newspaper said.
If the per-ticket increase goes ahead, the carrier will consider having one class on Boeing 787 Dreamliner planes that it’s ordered, rather than the economy and premium economy classes it now offers on many long-distance flights, according to the FT.
