Hurricane Watches Issued for North Carolina Coast With Earl Heading North

Hurricane watches were posted for part of the North Carolina coast, including the Pamlico and Albemarle sounds, as Hurricane Earl approached, the National Hurricane Center said. Earl, still packing winds of 135 miles per hour, is a “large and intense” storm as it heads toward the U.S. East Coast, the center said at 4:45 p.m. Miami time.
