European Union Budget Commissioner Calls for Spending Cuts, Les Echos Says

European Union Budget Commissioner Janusz Lewandowski said the EU should cut costs and rein in its bureaucracy, Les Echos reported, citing an interview.

Lewandowski said EU members should reach a consensus to 2013-2020 budget targets in the first-half of 2012, the daily newspaper quoted him as saying.

He’ll will meet today with French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde, Budget Minister Francois Baroin and Sarkozy’s economic adviser Xavier Musca, the daily reported.
