GCL-Poly Holdings to Supply DelSolar With 664 Megawatts of Solar Wafers

Aug. 30 (Bloomberg New Energy Finance) -- GCL-Poly Energy Holdings Ltd., in which China’s sovereign wealth fund holds a stake, signed an agreement with DelSolar Co. to supply 664 megawatts of wafers to the Taiwanese solar-cell maker.

The solar wafers will be delivered from October 2010 to December 2015, Hong Kong-listed GCL-Poly said in a statement on its website today. The contract value wasn’t disclosed.

The polysilicon maker signed the first wafer-supply deal with DelSolar in May as the Taiwanese company expands the capacity of its Wujiang plant between May 2010 and December 2013.

Shares of GCL-Poly rose 1.7 percent to HK$1.84 at 12:15 p.m., compared with the 0.7 percent gain in the benchmark Hang Seng Index.

China Investment Corp., the nation’s sovereign wealth fund, acquired a HK$5.5 billion ($707 million) stake in GCL-Poly in November.
