French Nuclear Watchdog Says EDF Has Problems With Flamanville EPR Liner

France’s nuclear watchdog ASN said Electricite de France SA has problems with the so-called liner of the EPR nuclear reactor being built at Flamanville in Normandy.

In a posting on its Web site, the nuclear agency ASN said the welding problem was detected in 2008 and 2009 and wasn’t corrected properly. The ASN carried out inspections of the site in July.
