Alliance Grain Traders, Magna, Scotiabank: Canadian Equity Market Preview
Shares of the following companies may have unusual moves in Canadian trading.
Alliance Grain Traders Inc. (AGT CT): The crop exporter, which calls itself the world’s largest lentil and pea splitting company, said it has entered into a letter of intent to buy Balco Grain Service’s assets in Bowmans, South Australia, in a deal it valued at C$10 million ($9.4 million).
Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS CT): Canada’s third-largest bank said it earned 99 cents a share in the third quarter, excluding certain items, missing the average of 12 analyst estimates by 0.6 percent.
Magna International Inc. (MG/A CT): The country’s biggest auto-parts maker’s plan to buy out founder Frank Stronach’s Class B shares survived an appeal to the Ontario Superior Court of Justice from shareholders who opposed the arrangement.
