African Rainbow, Bidvest, Basil Read May Move: South Africa Equity Preview

The FTSE/JSE Africa All Share Index fell 134.17, or 0.5 percent, to 26,738.91 in Johannesburg.
African Rainbow Minerals Ltd. (ARI SJ): The producer of coal, platinum and nickel said net income fell to 1.81 billion rand ($247 million) during the twelve months through June from 2.87 billion a year earlier. Shares in the company fell 4.08 rand, or 2.7 percent, to 147.90 rand.
Basil Read Holdings Ltd. (BSR SJ): The construction company is scheduled to release first-half earnings. Earnings per share may be as much as 30 percent lower than a year earlier, the company said on Aug. 24. Shares in Basil Read declined 5 cents, or 0.4 percent, to 11.60 rand.
Bidvest Group Ltd. (BVT SJ): The owner of businesses from auto dealerships to financial services said earnings for the 12 months through June 30 climbed to 3.34 billion rand from 2.9 billion a year earlier. Bidvest dropped 25 cents, or 0.2 percent, to 129 rand.
Buildmax Ltd. (BDM SJ) The building-materials supplier is scheduled to hold a general meeting of shareholders to vote on a proposed 300 million-rand rights offer. Shares in the company rose 1 cent, or 3.5 percent, to 30 cents.
Mustek Ltd. (MST SJ): The South African computer maker said net income rose to 80.7 million rand in the year through June, from 41.4 million rand a year earlier. Shares in the company were unchanged at 3.60 rand.

Anglo American Plc (AAUKY US) added 0.7 percent to $17.80. AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. (AU US) fell 0.4 percent to $42.68. BHP Billiton Ltd. (BBL US) increased 2 percent to $56.42. DRDGold Ltd. (DROOY US) gained 1.7 percent to $4.17. Gold Fields Ltd. (GFI US) rose 0.8 percent to $14.39. Harmony Gold Mining Co. (HMY US) declined 0.1 percent to $10.33. Impala Platinum Holdings (IMPUY US) slid 0.6 percent to $23.67. Sappi Ltd. (SPP US) rose 3.2 percent to $4.54. Sasol Ltd. (SSL US) climbed 1.7 percent to $38.19.
