Roche to Decide on Job Cuts in Pharmaceutical Unit This Week, Sonntag Says

Roche Holding AG will make a decision on job cuts this week, Sonntag newspaper reported, citing unidentified people familiar with the situation.
The layoffs will be in all areas of the pharmaceutical division and will not be focused on one country, Sonntag said. The job cuts will be “massive” and will be more than “several hundred”, the newspaper reported without specifying.
“It’s too early to speculate on this,” Claudia Schmitt, spokeswoman for Basel, Switzerland-based Roche, told Bloomberg News by telephone when asked to comment on the report. “There will be no decisions made this week,” she said, denying a part of the Sonntag report.
