Sales of Daimler AG’s Smart two- seater car are plummeting because of a lack of different models and sinking U.S. demand, Der Spiegel reported.
Daimler this year will probably sell fewer than 100,000 units of the Smart, which emits less carbon dioxide than any other car, down from 114,000 in 2009, the magazine reported, without saying where it got the information.
Sales in the U.S. this year will be about a third of the 25,000 units sold in 2008, the magazine added.
