Christie Fires New Jersey Education Chief Over U.S. Aid, Star-Ledger Says

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has fired the state’s education commissioner, Bret Schundler, the Star-Ledger of Newark, New Jersey, reported on its website, citing two officials briefed on the situation.

The firing occurred after Schunder refused to resign in the wake of the controversy over the state’s loss of as much as $400 million in federal school aid, the Star-Ledger reported.
