Airbus May Increase Production of A320, A330 After Orders, La Tribune Says
Airbus SAS will decide this autumn whether to increase production of A320 and A330 planes after getting 133 firm orders at the July Farnborough airshow, La Tribune reported, without saying where it got the information.
The world’s biggest commercial-aircraft maker is considering raising monthly production of A320s from 36 at the end of the year to 38 from mid-2011 and 40 from the start of 2012, the newspaper said. It may lift output of A330s at the start of 2012 to nine a months from eight, La Tribune said.
The increase would add about $9 billion to Airbus’s annual revenue, the newspaper said. Airbus’s management is banking on production of 21 A380s this year, meeting a target for at least 20, La Tribune said.
