AGL Energy Says Australia Needs Certainty on Carbon Price, Climate Policy

AGL Energy Ltd., Australia’s largest electricity and gas retailer, said the country needs certainty on government climate-change policy and to impose a price on carbon.

AGL Managing Director Michael Fraser said he is encouraged by the climate-change policies of the three independent lawmakers negotiating with the Labor government and the Liberal- National opposition over who will rule after the Aug. 21 election ended in deadlock.

Fraser commented in a telephone interview after AGL reported full-year results.
