The following companies may have unusual price changes in Japanese trading tomorrow. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and share prices are from the previous close. The information in each item was released after markets shut, unless stated otherwise.
Bank of Iwate Ltd. (8345 JT): The regional bank said it will sell 120,000 existing shares to raise 519.4 million yen ($6.1 million). The stock slipped 0.8 percent to 4,645 yen.
Chuo Mitsui Trust Holdings Inc. (8309 JT), Sumitomo Trust & Banking Co. (8403 JT): The financial companies reached a final agreement to merge. Chuo Mitsui shareholders will get a one-to- one share swap and Sumitomo Trust owners will receive 1.49 shares for each they hold, according to a statement from the banks to the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Chuo Mitsui advanced 1.3 percent to 312 yen. Sumitomo Trust rose 1.3 percent to 468 yen.
Daiichi Kensetsu Corp. (1799 JQ): The civil engineering company said it will spend as much as 160 million yen to repurchase up to 0.93 percent of its outstanding shares. The stock dropped 2 percent to 632 yen.
Mitsubishi Corp. (8058 JT): Japan’s largest commodities trader will spend C$450 million ($425 million) to participate in Penn West Energy Trust’s (PWT-U CN) gas project in Canada. The stock declined 1.4 percent to 1,843 yen.
Nippon Sheet Glass Co. (5202 JT): The glassmaker plans to raise as much as 49.8 billion yen by selling shares to the public in Japan and overseas. The stock lost 0.5 percent to 199 yen.
Shizuoka Bank Ltd. (8355 JT): The regional bank plans to buy back up to 1.45 percent of its outstanding shares for as much as 8 billion yen. The stock sank 1.3 percent to 674 yen.
Sony Corp. (6758 JT): The electronics maker and Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing Co. (8592 JP) will set up a general leasing venture, Sony said on its Web site. Sony will take a 34 percent stake in the venture while Sumitomo Mitsui will take the rest, according to the statement. Sony dropped 3.7 percent to 2,406 yen.
Toyota Tsusho Corp. (8015 JT): The trading company said its shareholders will sell as many as 13.7 million shares to the public. The Toyota Motor Corp. (7203 JT) trading unit said in a press release that the price hasn’t been determined. Toyota Tsusho fell 2 percent to 1,238 yen. Toyota retreated 0.8 percent to 2,980 yen.
Uchida Yoko Co. (8057 JT): The office-equipment trader booked a 2.1 billion yen net loss for the year ended July 20, narrower than its earlier forecast of a 2.4 billion yen loss, according to a preliminary earnings statement. The stock slid 0.4 percent to 225 yen.
UKC Holdings Corp. (3156 JT): The wholesaler of semiconductors and electronics parts will sell shares for 840 yen each to raise as much as 1.58 billion yen, according to a filing with Japan’s finance ministry. The stock tumbled 6.8 percent to 871 yen.
