Japan Communications Plans to Offer SIM Card for iPhones Bought Overseas

Japan Communications Inc. will offer a subscriber identity module, or SIM card, for Apple Inc.’s iPhone 4, company officials said at a briefing today.

To use the cards, subscribers would have to purchase their iPhones online because Softbank Corp., Japan’s exclusive supplier of the iPhone, prevents consumers from using the device on networks of rivals, including NTT DoCoMo Inc.
