French Stocks Rise: Accor, Sanofi-Aventis, Credit Agricole and BNP Advance

France’s CAC 40 Index climbed 0.8 percent to 3,553.23 at the 5:30 p.m. close in Paris, the measure’s first advance in four days. The SBF 120 Index rose 0.7 percent.

The following shares were among the most active in the French equity market today. Stock symbols are in parentheses after company names.

Accor SA (AC FP) gained 1 percent to 23.36 euros. Europe’s largest hotel company will establish a third hotel in Peru through its Ibis unit, Banco de Credito said.

European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co. (EAD FP) surged 3.5 percent to 18.53 euros. The U.S. Coast Guard has awarded EADS a $117 million contract for three HC-144A Ocean Sentry Maritime Patrol Aircraft, with options for up to six more aircraft over the next four years, the company said.

Credit Agricole SA (ACA FP) advanced 1.4 percent to 10.17 euros and BNP Paribas SA (BNP FP) climbed 1.3 percent to 51.67 euros. A gauge of European bank shares climbed 1.3 percent for the best performance in the Stoxx Europe 600 Index.

Sanofi-Aventis SA (SAN FP) rose 1.9 percent to 45.83 euros. The French drugmaker may complete its acquisition of Genzyme Corp. this winter for $76 to $79 a share, Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. analyst Geoffrey Porges said.
