Australian Election Early Count: Labor Party Takes 46 Seats, Coalition 45

Julia Gillard’s ruling Labor Party has won 46 seats in the House of Representatives. Tony Abbott’s Liberal-National coalition has won 45 seats, the Australian Electoral Commission said on its Web site. The party with the majority of the 150 seats forms government. Some 13 percent of the two-party preferred vote has been counted as of 7:37 p.m. Sydney time.
