Morgan Stanley Hires Jack O'Connor of Pioneer to Head Institutional Sales

Morgan Stanley, owner of the world’s largest brokerage, hired Jack O’Connor as head of North American institutional sales for its investment-management unit.

O’Connor ran U.S. institutional sales at Pioneer Investments, according to Morgan Stanley spokeswoman Alyson Barnes. He starts Aug. 23 in New York and will report to Lisa Jones, global head of sales.

Gregory Fleming, head of the investment-management division, also hired Paul Julius as chief financial officer of the unit, Barnes said in an e-mail. Julius joins the New York- based firm from Credit Suisse AG’s private-banking unit, where he was chief administration officer since January 2007.

Morgan Stanley Chief Executive Officer James Gorman hired Fleming, a veteran of Merrill Lynch & Co., in December to run the investment-management unit. The division had $220 billion in assets under management as of March 31, an increase of about 4 percent from a year earlier, according to its website.
