GDF Suez SA, PinguinLutosa NV, Total SA, Valeo SA: European Equity Preview

The following companies’ shares may have unusual moves in European trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are from the last close.

The Stoxx Europe 600 Index fell 1.4 percent to 253.90. The Stoxx 50 Index dropped 1.6 percent to 2,466.96. The Euro Stoxx 50 Index, a benchmark for nations using the euro, declined 2 percent to 2,675.02.

GDF Suez SA (GSZ FP): The French energy company made a bid for German natural-gas storage facilities currently owned by Exxon Mobil Corp. and Royal Dutch Shell Plc, according to three people with knowledge of the matter. The shares fell 2.4 percent to 25.30 euros.

PinguinLutosa NV (PIN BB): Europe’s second-biggest producer of frozen vegetables said its first-half net loss widened to 5.67 million euros from 2.54 million euros a year earlier. Sales rose 4.4 percent in the period. PinguinLutosa increased 0.1 percent to 10.15 euros.

Total SA (FP FP): The oil company may move after the price of crude oil declined as much as 1.9 percent in New York. Total shares fell 2.4 percent to 38.08 euros.

Valeo SA (FR FP): The auto-parts maker said Pardus Capital Management LP’s stake will drop to about 5 percent next month, in line with a previously agreed plan. Pardus currently holds 7.58 percent of Valeo and 7.36 percent of its voting rights. The shares rose 0.3 percent to 28.25 euros.
