Michael Douglas Cancels Hong Kong Speaking Engagement for Tumor Treatment
Actor Michael Douglas, known for playing Gordon Gekko in the film “Wall Street,” has canceled plans to address financial professionals in Hong Kong at the CLSA Investors’ Forum on Sept. 15 to undergo treatment for a throat tumor, the brokerage said.
“We have been informed that Michael Douglas will no longer be able to present at the CLSA Investors Forum due to the treatment he will be receiving for his throat tumor,” Simone Wheeler, CLSA spokeswoman, said in an e-mail.
“We have conveyed our best wishes to him,” she said.
The Associated Press today quoted a publicist’s assistant for the actor, Eli Barach, as confirming Douglas has a throat tumor.
Calls to William Morris Endeavor Entertainment in Los Angeles, which represents Douglas and other Hollywood stars, went unanswered today outside of office hours.
