MySpace Starts Music-Video Service With IPad Feature

News Corp.’s MySpace introduced a music-video application that can be used on the social network’s website and on Apple Inc.’s iPad tablet computer.

MySpace Music Romeo allows users to buy songs from Apple’s iTunes media store, the Beverly Hills, California-based company said today in an e-mailed statement.

The application helps users find new artists and songs by selecting videos based on mood and genre, the company said. The debut comes a day after MySpace introduced a redesign of users’ home pages with a standardized look and simpler design. Pages now include scrolling remarks from friends, photos and updates from blogs.

News Corp., controlled by Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rupert Murdoch, fell 31 cents, or 2.3 percent, to $13.08 at 2:43 p.m. New York time in Nasdaq Stock Market trading. Before today, Class A shares of the New York-based company had slid 2.2 percent this year.
