Juventus Agrees to Sell Denmark Midfielder Christian Poulsen to Liverpool
Juventus agreed to sell Denmark midfielder Christian Poulsen to Liverpool for as much as 6.6 million euros ($8.5 million), the Italian soccer club said.
Liverpool will pay an initial fee of 5.4 million euros for the 30-year-old Poulsen, with a further 1.2 million euros payable if Poulsen achieves “given sports performances” with the English Premier League club, Juventus said today in a statement to the Italian stock exchange.
Poulsen, a defensive midfielder who can also play in the center of defense, featured in all three of Denmark’s games at this year’s World Cup. Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson gave Poulsen his professional debut in 2000 when he was coach of FC Copenhagen.
Liverpool last month bought teenage defender Danny Wilson from Glasgow Rangers for as much as 5 million pounds ($7.8 million) and signed England forward Joe Cole on a free transfer.
