George Michael, the British singer of “Careless Whisper” and “I Want Your Sex,” was charged by London police with possession of cannabis and driving while under the influence of drugs.
Michael, whose real name is Georgios Panayiotou, was at a police station in the Camden area of London today to be charged, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said in a telephone interview.
Michael, 47, was arrested last month after he crashed his vehicle into the front of a shop in the early hours of the morning, U.K. newspaper the Daily Mail reported July 6.
Lottie Wright, a spokeswoman at Michael’s public relations firm CF Publicity, declined to comment when reached by phone.
