The MSCI Latin America Index fell 0.6 percent to 4,115.14. In Brazil, preferred shares usually are the most-traded class of stock.
Transmissora Alianca de Energia Eletrica SA (TRNA11 BS): The power holding company announced it agreed to pay 275 million reais for stakes in three electricity transmission companies. Transmissora Alianca rose 0.7 percent to 29.49 reais.
SLC Agricola SA (SLCE3 BS): The agroindustrial company announced it has signed rental contracts for 15,800 hectares of land in the states of Mato Grosso and Bahia. SLC rose 2.4 percent to 16.39 reais.
The Mexican Stock Exchange announced that bottler Embotelladoras Arca SAB de CV (ARCA* MM), retailer Grupo Comercial Chedraui SA de CV (CHDRAUIB MM), steel products company Industrias CH SAB de CV (ICHB MM) and drugmaker Genomma Lab Internacional SA de CV (LABB MM) will become members of the IPC Index as of Sept. 1, while miner Cia. Minera Autlan SAB de CV (AUTLANB MM) and retailer Grupo Famsa SAB de CV (GFAMSAA MM) will be excluded.
Arca fell 1 percent to 48.5 pesos, Chedraui rose 0.4 percent to 36 pesos, ICH fell 0.5 percent to 48.27 pesos, Genomma lost 0.1 percent to 23.66 pesos, Autlan fell 1.2 percent to 26.5 pesos and Famsa fell 1.4 percent to 17.7 pesos.
Cia. de Minas Buenaventura SAA (BVN PE): The miner received a government permit to start operating its La Zanja gold mine. Buenaventura rose 0.4 percent to $36.5.
