Morgan Stanley Said to Hire Bankers Mansley, Grow for Clean-Energy Group

Morgan Stanley, the biggest lead manager on stock offerings for clean-energy companies last year, hired bankers who specialize in that industry from Lazard Ltd. and Credit Suisse Group AG, said a person briefed on the matter.

Schuyler “Skip” Grow, a New York-based banker at Lazard, and Robert Mansley, at Credit Suisse in London, are joining as managing directors, said the person, who declined to be identified because Grow and Mansley haven’t yet started in their new positions. Morgan Stanley also added clean-energy bankers in Hong Kong and Mumbai, the person said.

Morgan Stanley is building its clean technology and renewable energy investment banking group after handling initial public offerings for China Longyuan Power Group Corp., China’s biggest wind-power producer, and A123 Systems Inc., the Watertown, Massachusetts-based car battery company. Morgan Stanley handled 10 transactions worth a total of $2.9 billion, the most of any lead manager, according to a ranking by Bloomberg New Energy Finance.

Mary Claire Delaney, a spokeswoman for New York-based Morgan Stanley, declined to comment.

UBS AG, Citigroup Inc., and Deutsche Bank AG held the next- highest spots in the 2009 ranking.
