LeBron James's Miami Heat Will Open NBA Season on TNT at Boston Celtics

LeBron James’s Miami Heat will open the National Basketball Association season Oct. 26 at the defending Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics.

The matchup will be followed the same night by a meeting between the two-time defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers and the Houston Rockets. Both games will be broadcast by Turner Network Television.

The Heat are the favorites to win the NBA title after free agents James and Chris Bosh last month decided to join Dwyane Wade in Miami.

“They have assembled talent that we haven’t seen together at one time -- in terms of those three guys being so highly rated -- in this era,” said TNT basketball analyst Kenny Smith.

The Chicago Bulls visit the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first of two games on Walt Disney Co.’s ESPN on Oct. 27. The Los Angeles Clippers host the Portland Trail Blazers in the nightcap.

On TNT on Oct. 28, the Orlando Magic open their new Amway Center against the Washington Wizards and the Utah Jazz play the Phoenix Suns.

The Magic play at the Heat and the Suns host the Lakers in a doubleheader on ESPN the following day.

ABC will show the Magic against the Celtics and the Heat at the Lakers on Dec. 25, while ESPN will televise the Bulls against the New York Knicks, the Denver Nuggets versus the Thunder and the Blazers against the Golden State Warriors on the same day.

On Jan. 17, the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, ESPN will show the Bulls at the Memphis Grizzlies, NBA TV will broadcast the Sacramento Kings at the Atlanta Hawks and TNT will have two games -- Boston against Orlando and the Thunder versus the Lakers.

The full 2010-11 regular-season schedule will be released Aug. 10.
