Detroit Lions Sign No. 2 Overall Draft Pick Ndamukong Suh to 5-Year Deal

Ndamukong Suh and the Detroit Lions agreed on a contract that guarantees $40 million over five years to the No. 2 pick in this year’s National Football League draft, the Associated Press reported. The package could be worth as much as $68 million, the AP said.

Suh, a defensive tackle from Nebraska, reported to training camp today after missing Detroit’s first four practices while contract negotiations continued. He was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy last season, finishing fourth in the voting.

Suh recorded 12 sacks during his senior year at Nebraska, leading the Cornhuskers to a 10-4 record while becoming a first team All-American.

The Detroit Lions did not immediately return a call to confirm details of the package.
