Lufthansa Pilot Reported Fire as Cargo Plane Crashed on Landing in Riyadh

The pilot of a crashed Deutsche Lufthansa AG freight aircraft reported a fire in the cargo bay of the plane to the Saudi authorities, a Saudi civil aviation spokesman told Al Arabiya television today.

The aircraft flew to the King Khaled International Airport from Frankfurt and crashed upon landing, said the spokesman Khaled al-Khaibari. Both the pilot and his assistant were taken to hospital, and the aircraft was gutted.
